I now have the Fordmuscle Ranchero Firing right on time! The key to any good race engine is MSD Ignition systems! MSD has the best spark management systems in the business. I needed the best, and with the help of JD StCyr and MSD Ignition, I was able to select the correct Distributor and Wires for my application. I used the 8578 small diameter Pro Billet distributor and the 8.5mm wires in black.
I have locked my distributor out for no advance and phased the rotor in for perfect timing. Joe Pando from MSD explains rotor phasing here: http://www.msdvideos.com/video_detail.php?mId=15196 . Rotor phasing is critical, especially with Nitrous cars and other cars using timing retards.
I liked the way the boots fit on the plug. The MSD boots are fully adjustable to clear most all header applications.
With the MSD crimping tool, it makes assembling your custom wires a breeze! I’m glad I invested in the crimpers. Although all MSD wire kits include a tool to use as a cutter and a crimper with your clamp vise at home, the hand crimpers are awesome. I will always use MSD Ignition products as they have out performed any other ignition system I have tried.
