The 2007 Shelby GT Concept #1, serial number 07GT01C, will hit the auction block at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas, Nevada, this October.

These days the Shelby name is strong among current Ford enthusiasts, but that resurgence picked up steam back in 2007, when Shelby American created Shelby GT. Used for auto show displays, promotional photography, and media ride-alongs, the Concept 1 example — the first pre-title Shelby Mustang built since 1970 — is going up for sale this fall at Barrett Jackson.

For those who don’t recall, the 2007 Shelby GT continued the momentum of the 2006 Shelby GT-H rental car. Ford and Shelby teamed up to produce a new Shelby for consumers. As such, Shelby ordered this 2007 Mustang GT, which it turned into the first Shelby GT with a unique fascia, a hood scoop reminiscent of the 1965-66 GT350 scoop, and silver stripes. Functional upgrades include a Whipple supercharger, Baer Brakes, a Ford Performance suspension, and 20-inch Razor wheels.

The resulting car appeared at the New York International Auto Show during the Shelby GT’s introduction.

Now, on its 10^th anniversary, “Whitey” as the Shelby crew called this concept car, will hit the auction block at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 19-21. The winning bidder will also take home a letter of authenticity from Shelby American president Gary Patterson, a copy of the original Ford MSO signed over to Shelby American, and a collection promotional and conversion photography.
