T5 Swap on a 351W

I have a 65 fastback with a roller 351W, and T5. I have run it n various combinations with stock bellhousings, scattersheilds, toploaders, with the old style 3 finger pressure plates and with diaphram style pp's.

If you want to use an old style (3 finger) clutch&P.P you can use a 157 tooth flywheel from a 289 or early 302 (28 0z-in) and an old style clutch throwout fork with the newer style T5 bellhousing. This works but I prefer the following setup: Get a 157 tooth flywheel from a 80's 302 these are 50 oz-in in ballance and have your local machine shop reballance it to 28oz-in (this is easy for them to do and takes about an hour) you can then use a cable linkage and diaphram style pressure plate. The cable linkage is a bit of a hassle but it feels better. I found even with a chained down motor you get a lot of torque action transmitted through the clutch pedal with the old Z-bar setup. I made my own cable linkage, but Mustang Steve sells a kit, I can't vouch for his particular kit because I have not used it, but other kits he sells are very good.
