New Water Pump install advice

I am getting ready to install the new water pump. I Should be getting the new Aluminum radiator from Summit today, and have just gotten back from the Auto parts store with a new water pump. I bought a 78' water pump to install in my 68' so it will hook up to the new radiator without any problems. It is a 289 mainly stock engine. I have never installed a water pump before, I am looking for any advice and help you can give me. Do I just use the gasket, or do I use some silicon? It looks like it is mainly just abolt on, but I know that looks can be deceiving. Thanks a lot for all your help.
