How to home-stroke a 302?

I assume your trying to keep costs down. Here is an alternative.

You could classify my 331 as a home stroke 302. I designed the reciprocating assy myself using a speedomotive 331 hi nod crank. Research determined that 289 rods and KB322s will do it. My motivation was twofold, refusing to spend over $1K for a stroker kit, and avoiding a piston with the pin intersecting the oil ring. The latter has changed since a kit with a 5.315 rod was introduced, but the cost of the crank, rods, and pistons is in the $650 range. If your not looking for more than around 450 HP and no more than 6500 rpm, this will do it. Don't let the long rod crowd try to tell you that the rod/stroke ratio is too small because its the same as a 347 and too much is made of this issue anyhow when it comes to street motors. Be a free thinker and don't buy into the standard lingo. Over 300 RWHP and 300 RWTQ can't be wrong.
