Blkfrd, whats your timing curve like? You said you changed initial, but I was wondering what you are running for total timing and how quick its in.

A good curve, probably 36-38 total all in my 2500 rpm would probably wake that car up like no-one's business if you dont have an agrssive curve.

With my Mallory, and a recent MSD in a 428CJ, they were both new out of the box with very little centrifugal timing and it didnt come in on either until well after 3000 (3500 on mine, almost 4000 rpm on the MSD)

Needless to say the change was dramatic with a good timing curve, both in mileage and power

I have a modified ford distributor built by ignitioneering in fullerton, ca. It had a second shaft support bushing and pertronix installed. I'm also using a flame thrower coil. I can't say that I have ever heard the engine miss. The ignition is working very well.

Ignitioneering asked me all about my engine, drivetrain and car and curved the distributor appropriately. Initial 16 BTDC with 36 degrees total advance at 2500 I think...I can't remember for sure. I've had it set initially at 12 BTDC and then I set it to 16 BTDC but yesterday I checked it since I installed a Pro Race damper and it was at 18 BTDC, but maybe the pointer is not right on. Anyhow, I was feeling a flat spot in accel in the mid range so I set it to 14 BTDC and now it is much much better.
