Since the \"draft\" post has no easy answer, perhaps this question will be easier....

Wood peckers are pretty smart birds, if a pain in the butt. They are there for one of two reasons. The first is if they are just storing acorns. The second is becasue they're after food. You may have little worms, termites, etc... in the trim that are attracting them. The woodpeckers can actually hear termites chomping away, so they know where to get them. Owls work, the remote sensors that activate rainbirds work too. Shoots a spray pattern in the direction of where you set it. That trick works on deer too, for a while anyways. If the birds are localized, you may want to drape some bird netting in the area of the roof/trim, then they can't get to where they're peckin'. Good Luck
