Car all of the sudden dies

The first thing you should do on any EECIV car is spend the $35 at Pep Boys and buy a Ford-version code scanner. Comes with a book on how to use it, and will reveal a remarkable amount of info about what your engine is doing. Absolutely the first place I look for any problem, because it frequently saves lots of time and trouble trying to figure out what's wrong. Indispensible. You could have anything from a dead fuel pump to a bad mass air meter. First last and always run the codes before you spend any time trying to figure out what's wrong with the old techniques. That EECIV computer is smart, smart, smart and can tell you if it's any one of a dozen sensors or controls, a loose wire or even if you have a weak injector. Only if there's no codes, then you can move on to spark versus fuel.
