New view on my union

The union I belong to is the same as Bob's just at a small plant. Some think the UAW has the same power everywhere but they don't.Power is based on the size of the body at each company not in a name.Bob I am on the election committee and I ensure a fair vote so to answer your question everyone was free to vote as they saw fit.The problem is a few got the the younger people to think the company would not dare lock us out.Convincing them we were to valuable and they could not make it without us. A big sticking point was retiree health care in which they wanted us to agree to dropping part of it for current retirees. In the end they took that off the table but said they would pull it on their own anyway at the first of the year.Last straw for we which I did not mention before is the unit chair is running for state rep in my area and I know for a fact I will hear in his next campaign something along the lines of *I fought a long bitter labor dispute to protect jobs.........*The way he has handle this and the direction he took it convinces me (and others) he wanted this for political gains.Just by the look on some of their faces you could tell they didn't think this would happen. If I owned the company I would do exactly as they are doing.I truly feel sorry for the no voters because very few of them will ever find a job that pays as much as they were making and some are unemployable do to health or age.
