Classic insurance for young guys??
I called a bunch of classic insurance companies today. Hagerty said my age was not an issue and they would insure me (rate was a little less than yours), if it weren't for one detail...
My daily driver is going to be a '63 Falcon. They will not insure you if your daily driver is older than the vehicle you are putting on their classic insurance. Daily driver must be 25 years old or newer, and if it were newer than my classic there may be some wiggle room.
The issue is that they don't want the classic used as a "backup car" if my daily driver breaks. I told them I could most likely never be insured with them as I tried the whole newer car thing with two late-eighties cars and both had issues. The one that was fuel inejcted was unreliable in that it needed gas poured down the throttle body every cold morning. Never again will I own another car newer than the mid-70's.
All the other companies I called were rude to me in varying degrees when they learned my age. Only Grundy was not rude. The rest, several of which are local to me in NJ were rude. I tried them first because I'd rather support a local business than a huge national corporation. Oh well, it seems like the small companies are not so nice, so when I do insure with classic insurance I'll stick to a big company, probably as they were friednly and IIRC no mileage restrictions.
Well, if anyone else has any suggestions please let me know! Thanks guys.
