Getting back to the initial question, I don't think you have much choice but to accept the
C&^%y engine in whatever model early Ford it is installed. That's just the way the hobby is! The sbc follows the conforms of the flathead almost to a T and can be made to make HP inexpensively, whereas a Ford-in-a-Ford created all kinds of obstacles just to make it fit. 99% of "street rods" follow this line of thinking from a long time ago so just grin and bare it. It's also sort of a generational thing too. Us older guys grew up seeing the early hot rods and that's what we emmulate but you younger guys are more of a rice-rocket crowd with later Mustangs mixed in. As your kids grow up, theyll find their own niche of car (if they can be pried from their computers or game boys). There'll always be a conflict as to what is a street rod. Granted, this is a Ford dedicated sight and that's what you're looking for but don't get in a huff if that's not what you get here
