If one already has a link bar lifter, those are always a better setup than that cheesy, tinny spider hold down contraption. A link bar lifter can be used in any block. Cost, yes the link bars are more expensive but in your case thats not relevant. Goig from a link bar lifter (a good one) to the ford stock setup is like going from a hyd roller cam to a flat tappet cam.
