It is a W. No bigger on the outside than any other.
I had to open up the tunnel last summer in order to remove the trans while the convertor was still attached to the flexplate. This was in August when I siezed the engine on a neighborhood romp. Note to self: Do NOT reverse the rods on #2 and #6.
I also need to add the flexplate shield required for 10.99 or faster. Opening up the tunnel allows for room to add the shield. More of a by product than a 'by design' but it still get's the job done.
