V8Shadow- thanks
I still wouldnt say restored as its a patchwork quilt underneath...inner wheelhouses are patched, front fenderwells patched, floor patched, trunk patched, frame new steel siderails/arches/torqueboxes spliced onto salvageable part of front clip and a rear crossmember...definitely can tell its not original, but structurally sound and all the rots been cut out- except for the doors...still look too good to justify putting the new ones on and having to repaint the whole thing...maybe after the old mustang gets done...
the most amazing thing about this car is my old neighbor Ben told me to keep the aluminum trim waxed- thats why it lasted so long- one of the trunk spears has gotten a bit of the 'whitish' tint that happens to old anodized aluminum, but the grille and all the rest look like new still(one little tiny gravel ding under the grille). He sure loved this old car- too bad he didnt like bigblock convertibles huh

It still blows my mind that the hood/doors are 40 year old enamel and smooth as glass, no dings/scratches...just 'bald spots' wher he rubbed thru the paint along the creases from all the washing/waxing he did on it over the years....with the color unless you get up close you really dont notice how thin the paint is, but it still shines mirror straight on the hood/doors...heres a few more pictures of some of the patching that had to be cobbled up:
man I hate rust...
