If you don't want the parts, just buy the bare head fully CNC'ed. Although it really doesn't cost that much more to buy them with all the parts. Just ask about upgrades. If you get there catalog, look at the price sheet. That's were AFR puts all their upgrades. I have ported bare BBC heads for customers who wanted to save a few bucks, but I would always recommend getting the fully CNC'ed version and then polishing the ports from there if you want a finer finish.
