I know how to do this.

But as I mentioned earlier in another thread, I got a timing light and a dwell meter from AutoZone yesterday, and I may need to have some advice on how to do those functions if I can't make out how to do it from the instructions that come with the TL and DM.

I'll let you all know how this goes.

Nuff said.

LADY AND GENTLEMEN!!!

I just regapped the points in the 3.14159.

I checked them prior to touching them, and they were set at 0.005!!! I regapped them to 0.015.

I checked them at EVERY lobe on the distributor cam. They were 0.015 at each lobe.

I put a little dab of Vaseline on the little nylon part that follows the cam, on the side that faces the rotation of the cam.

I cleaned off the face of the rotor where the electricity come out to the respective distributor contact, and put it back into the distributor.

I then got into the car, and pressed the accelerator to the floor to set the choke on the Holley.

I then touched the starter, and the engine started INSTANTLY, and went to about 1,300 rpm and purred like a kitten.

I let it warm up to 160 degrees, then using a little, short screwdriver, turned the carburetor idle screw counter clockwise till the tach said 500 rpm.

The engine runs perfectly and the exhaust note is no longer thunderous. I think it would pass inspection the way it sits!

How do you like them rutabakers?

Alright, I'm now going to go read how to use the timing light, and the dwell meter.

Then I'm going to go to the auto parts store, and get a can of SeaFoam and do what FEaGB said to do.

Gal and Guys... I can't tell you how stoked I am by all of this. And I owe it to all of youse guys for giving me the courage to do this kind of thing. What it is, is that I'm confident that if I need to know something, that I have someone I can ask.

And to show you my gratitude, I'm going to try to help each of you out in learning how to read longs posts without getting tired-eye syndrome!

Regards,

JCAllison
