your dwell is controled by you point gap--on ford cars you set the points and it -is the dwell-- on chevy theres a little window on the distribtor -- you use a allen wrench and set the dwell -that also sets the points - dwell and point gap is the samo samo-- you cant change the dwell without changeing the point gap-- -- set your timing -loosen distribitor [just loosen dont remove bolt]- disconnect the vac line from the carborator-- plug it [the line]-- set timeing -leave timing light attached- reatach the vac line -- raise rpms --watch timing marks to see if timing advances with rpms--tighten distribtor back down
