Re: obscure muscle

While not a Ford, I had one of these about 15 years ago and was one of my favorite cars ever.

1965 Buick Gran Sport.

I know, Buick and fast don't usually go together. But the '65 was a mid year option based on the Skylark so it was about the same size as the '65 Olds' 442 and '65 GTO. It didn't have it's own VIN code for the GS in '65 so insurance was dirt cheap.

401 cubes, 441 lb ft of torque at 3700 rpm, 4 speed, posi, factory tach, buckets, available dual quad and tri power from the dealer, these Buicks were bad news. I could get on any freeway on ramp at 60 mph, and then nail second gear and really get merged with the flow of traffic. And nobody knew what it was. Mine was called called a Malibu on more than one occasion.

I miss the Buick as much as any of my former Fords.
