I agree with Jan on a couple- I still have a 89 mark VII LSC, and right now these are bargain basement hotrod-able cars- I see them in the paper often for around 1k...put a set of real gears in that car and it would rock- and comfortably

When I was a kid mom had a 69 gal with the high comp 429 4 barrel- ended up being my first car at 16, promptly totalled it out horsing around. By far the 'strongest feeling' car Ive ever had, yet she got 17mpg driving it to work when I was a kid...that engine was BOTH a torque monster and a screamer for a bigblock (still got the motor- its 'someday' going in our 69 mustang fb)
I still dream of someday finding another old 69 hardtop 2 dr with the black interior/429 4v...they had one of the coolest dashboards Ive ever seen too- except for the odd lefthanded radio...those cars were tanks, but had no problem stuffin you in the seat
