Mallory Ignition E-Spark Conversion Kit

I installed the Mallory kit in both my 1973 - 302 Mustang and my 1971 F100 - 351W. After running them for about a week the 351W started to run rough, I opened the distributor cap and found the contact on the end of the rotor was bent and the platic was melted. The distributor cap is a Standard brand blue that appears thicker than stock. I had to put the points back in.

Now the Mustang is running rough. Everything looks good with the Mallory kit but it acts like an ignition problem.

Any body else have similar experiance with the Mallory conversion?
