Anyone know what it was and where I can get one ??

Duh,-Yeah, I re-read the question and I would imagine that the truck has a D2TZ-7228 in it. For some reason I thought he said the part #'s were the same. I have no idea whether they will interchange, but a quick phone call to your freindly neighborhood boneyard will yield a definitive answer, as those guys make their living with parts interchanges. And I do know exactly what you call that thingamobobber you saw on that 62, and I know where you can get one. They have a pretty technical name and if I told you it would probably just confuse you , and they are only available through a few specialty shops like ACE hardware and Home Depot. You are in luck though, as I just happen to have a box of NOS thingamobobbers in my garage. I can let one go for $25.00 and 12.50 shipping. How many would you like?
