Cost isn't always the only consideration (besides, maybe he has a buddy at a machine shop). Sometimes the "hack factor" plays into it too. Making a Windsor block based stroker with a cut down 351C crank, oddball piston and rod combination, Cleveland heads, and homebrew Megaquirt EFI run and run well has appeal to me. The "hack factor", what hot rodding used to be all about.
