4) Running without an alternator will drain your battery fairly quickly, which reduces the voltage going to your ignition system, hence deteriorating the spark at your plugs.

1. Does that mean it can not supply any more than 4 amps at the 18 volt output? That is not sufficient for many CD boxes such as MSD's 6AL, which draws over 1 amp per 1000rpm.
2. understood
3. Has there been any testing to verify that this device is beneficial to a CD type ignition? Since the output voltage on a CD box is determined by it's internal circuitry and voltage regulation, and not usually directly tied to Vin?
4. As far as I know, most electronic ignition systems will stop working correctly at around 8-10 volts, which is basically when the battery's capacity is almost completely depleted. If you were to continue drawing on the battery, it would be a matter of minutes before it was completely drained, so a voltage multiplier wouldn't buy you much time. Combine that with the fact that running at 18v can increase current consumption by about 50%, and you've cut battery life by 33% due to increased load, and only extended it by less than ~5% with the voltage multiplication.
