Re: squealing belt

Ok. I should have been a bit more specific. All very good points which I have addressed with the car. I did not build the motor but here's the deal. When purchased, it had a standard rotation pump on it that may have been froze up. Anyway, I thought that was incorrect given the single / serpentine belt theory / application (Not a V belt) so I purchased a reverse rotation pump. That did nothing to move the coolant. It is now back to a standard rotation as the belt runs CLOCKWISE around the TOP of the fan pulley driving it clockwise then straight down and around the crank pulley, back upward to the alternator where the tensioner is located which pushes the belt down in a bolted position creating the tension. It's possible the reverse pump would work if I route the belt UNDER the fan pulley which would drive it COUNTER CLOCKWISE. (right ?)
It is a multi grove belt about 3/4 of an inch wide. The crank pulley has the corresponding groves but the fan belt pulley surface is smooth. Running the stamped numbers on the tensioner, it is for a 5.0L 89-93 Mustang or close to those years if I remember correctly. The motor runs a consistant 190 degrees while out and about and the coolant is moving in the radiator while running.
