Re: Your first car

The year was 1978, I was barely 16 years old. I paid $750 for a '67 Mustang fastback with a 289 4 barrel, a T&C 4sp transmission, 8" rear, black interior, primer gray, fiberglass hood with scoop secured with four pins and no hinges. The car was beat but still solid and I spent the next 2 years transforming it bit by bit into a nice hot rod. The motor was rebuilt with a HiPo bottom end, cross ram dual 4 intake, crane cam, ported heads, hooker headers, 4.11 9" rear end, painted it a dark wine red base coat / clear coat, long before anyone did such paint jobs. I loved that car more than anything. When I was 20 I sold it to buy an engagement ring. Five years later I got divorced.
