As far as the so called adjusted for inflation gas prices Cobra Jack....sorry... I dont mean to insult and please dont take it that way but you have bought into the oil industry's line of fertilizer. Gas prices have almost quadrupled in the last 4 years, and the oil industry is making record breaking profits...PERIOD. if the gas prices had kept up with inflation since gas was a quarter a gallon that would be one thing...... to have it go from less than a dollar to almost $4 in 4 years is nothing but rape of the American public, and it is taking a healthy role in the destruction of our current economy......just as OPEC planned.

I don't like gas prices any more than you do but having been in the chemical "bidness" my entire life gasoline at $4.00 a gallon (about $.60 a pound) is still one of the cheapest "chemicals" on earth!! Granted the recent "quadrupling" of prices is irritating and causing everyone to re-think their finances, but with over 50 years of inflation $4.00 a gallon ain't far off......the BIG question is......where will the price stabilize and fall back some??
BTW, I used to drive 60K miles a year and burn 4000-5000 gallons of gas per year.....NO MORE!! Today that would represent almost double my mortgage payment monthly!!
At least we can get gas today.....back in the 70's I had to make appointments along my sales route to put 5 gallons in my Delta 88 with a 455 ci motor......11 MPG.....NOT FUN!!!
What really worries me is not crude oil supply but refinery capacity and age.....If one goes down we REALLY HAVE PROBLEMS!!!
