Re: Boss, Clevor questions

Clevor Head Mod

The link above gives some basic insight to the modifications you would need to do to a set of 351C heads to do a Clevor. Of course there are many other little things also that would need to be dealt with...one of is correct pushrod length, you need to measure for that, I can't off hand remember the new length needed.

Boss 302 pistons are still out there, check with piston makers and you should be able to find some. The Boss 302 shares some components with your original 289...original Boss 302 rods are the same length as your 289 rods (but they had beefier rod bolts), the stroke was the same as a 302, (so you would need a new crank), but the pistons are unique to a Boss 302, different compression height than a 289 or 302 if I remember correctly.

Do a search through this site, pull up threads with Clevor in the subject line and the main body of the thread and you should get a lot of good info, as well as a few more links, also post this thread in the Garage section and/or Tech section...you will get more responses, there are a few FM'ers there that have done the Clevor thing....just get ready for some other responses of "why do that when aftermarket heads can flow better?" ...those response pop up anytime you even mention a Clevor.

I myself one day will do a clevor, right now it is early and for the life of me I cannot remember where I put all the info I accumulated in regards to it..I will try to add some more info later when I get back from work tonight

Good luck!

Mike
