I know big cats are governed at 2100 rpm, and cummins are at 2000rpm. Light duty diesels like Powerstrokes go to 3,500 rpm.
The force on the flywheel must have been mind boggling. I can't nor want to imagine the explosion. Hopefully the guy is doing alright. At least prosthetic legs are good enough where he can live a pretty normal life again.
