Re: Every Wealthy Guy Needs One Of These In His Stable
Yeah, Sports Car International did an article on it in their March/08 magazine. Pretty nuts car there. Add $27,995 to the bill of your GT500 purchase to get the 605hp/590lb-ft of torque WITH A WARRANTY or add #31,995 for the 725hp/650lb-ft of torque version with NO WARRANTY.
"To extract an extra 105hp from the GT500's 500hp suprecharged 5.4-liter V8, Shelby adds a cold air induction system, 62-mm twin throttle bodies and a Ford Racing supercharger that pumps out 13 pounds of boost. A Borla cat-back exhaust system spits out the burnt hydrocarbons and delivers a ballsy exhaust note. Shelby leaves the 150mph electronic speed limiter in place, as well as traction control.
If that isn't a big enough threat to your driver's license. spring for the 725hp, 650lb-ft monster. Off comes the factory blower, replaced with a massive Kenne Bell/Shelby screw-type supercharger. This unti, breathing through twin 75-mm billet throttle bodies, cranks out 16.5 pounds of boost. A JBA 3-inch exhaust system is bolted in, as is a custom one-piece drive-shaft. Tossed onto the scrap heap along with the other GT500 parts is the speed limiter, allowing your speeding tickets to be that much bigger."
All this plus:
-Baer Brakes
-a carbon-fiber hood
-20-inch wheels
-short throw shifter
-Ford Racing Handling package
-3.73:1 rear axel ratio
-multi-link live-axel rear suspension
-and cosmetic junk like badges
That's all pretty good and I'm sure it would be a blast to drive. But I still say it'll drive like a heavy car and have virtually no feeling of the rough road.
But if I were rich I'd probably add one of these to the collection.
