Newbie with 67 Ranchero

I am a first time Ford owner. I purchased a project '67 Ranchero yesterday for $250 and a 93 Thunderbird with a 302HO for a additional $200. The motor runs good when cool, but loses power and gets hot. Hopefully just a head gasket. I have never owned anything but Chevys but am very excited about the new project. If anyone has any info about 67 Rancheros or can point me in the direction i'd appreciate it. It originally had a 289 and 3spd on the tree. The owner wanted to keep the original motor and trans, that was fine. I would rather go fuel injected and overdrive trans. Any idea what type of rearend this would have? a 9"?
Is there any year front disc brakes that will work? It is a factory AC car with PS and manual brakes. Thanks!

Plans are the HO motor/trans, so it will be fuel injected. I plan on taking it down to bare metal and applying some hot rod black DP90 epoxy primer. Eventually the original metallic blue. I will redo the entire brake, suspension system and bolt on some vintage American Torq thrusts and have my first FoMoCo toy. Any pointers on putting in the late moidel stuff in the early car?
