Re: S197 4.6 blower choices

A guy at church has a KB on his 05(auto). his best time stock was 14.2, put the KB on and a set of drag radials ran 12.5 first time out...
I'm really hoping to put one on my 06 stick one of these days...I think the Saleen package looks pretty cool, but from everything Ive heard, KB is the most efficient- and can really kick up the hp if you beef up the bottom end to handle it...everyone says stock stay maybe 400~450 max or it will blow up, the Saleen is right there, but dunno if it could be taken further down the road if you wanted more...To me another 100 ftlb off idle is all I think these cars would need to be 'perfect'- horsepower numbers are just numbers 99.9% of the time, as they are topend numbers you cant legally hit on the streets, but bottom end torque would help get it back a little closer to the bigblock feel in normal driving...400 ftlb at 2000 would be great seat of the pants everyday power- know what you mean about centrifugals- both make equal power, but only a positive displacement gets you the everyday grunt off idle to enjoy...and the more efficient, the less parasitic drag at equal boost, so better mileage youll get- KB Saleen Roush and magnacharger all have bypass valves that prevent boost at cruise vacuum levels to keep mpg up...I just wish there was a way to keep the charge motion control valves, but all the blower guys pull then for clearance and a bit less restriction...but if you could keep them I bet highway MPG would not change at all...as it is ive only heard of dropping from 25 to 22-ish(but premium fuel reqd of course).
I bought a fang(aeroform now) hood/shaker with the blockoff plate- will look and function like the shaker, but attach to a concave plate under the hood to preserve clearance for the blower later on...had the hood a few months, but with a teething baby, wife recovering from heart attack/bypass surgery, temp custody of buddies 9 yr old daughter, plus the other 3 boys, the cars priority been low kicked another notch or three down the totem pole, heck think its underground now using that yardstick
maybe over the winter we'll get started on it...
