Serpentine Belt Setup

Has anyone tried a serpentine belt setup on their older vehicle. Did you use a kit or junkyard parts? Has anyone tried one before on a Cleveland? Also, what are some advatages and disadvatages to a serpentine setup compared to a V-belt? Thanks for your help.

I know that serpentine does not slip like a v-belt system.

Serpentine Belt Setup

I put a serpentine system on my 66 Fairlane when I put the fresh 302 in it. I found the parts for mine at the salvage yard on a non AC 79 or 80 Mustang. I eliminated the air pump and just used a short belt. I like it. It sure cleans up the front of the engine if you have accessories such as power steering like mine does.

I use serpentine on my 65, I used the late model alternater which hooks up fine to the old wireing, and the late model P/S pump which took some doing to get the hoses right but well worth it, I got my brackets from the late model motor I put in the car, You will have to get a A/C eliminator kit for the late model car if you dont run A/C, and use the stock non A/C belt.
