Slicks with radial skinnies on the front?

I was wondering if this is acceptable practise? I have seen a set of radial skinnies for the front of my car at a reasonable price (almost new) and was wondering if its ok to run them with MT ET drag slicks on the rear. I have heard its not good to run radials with non radial.
Help please....

Well, I do it.

Those radial skinnies are VW bug tires. They are 165/15. I run them on a 3.5" wheel and run 50psi in them. If you run less than that, they look like they are low on air. If I had a 4" wheel, I'd probably go up to the next larger size (185 or 195/75/15). Like it is, I've had no problems running 130mph.

Good Luck!

165/15 "beatle" tires on 15x4 convo pro's
40# of air. In fact Ive done it a bunch.
Ive even wore out a pair of skinnies!
Driven cross country with them several times....regular radials on the rear of course for those trips

Add me to the list also.

I have the 165R15's on 15X4 Draglites. I have run them ~40-46 psi, depending on my reaction times.

They have been used with Hoosier 26X9, 26X10 and 28X10. After the backhalf they now have a Hoosier 13.5WX32 (measures 15X33). No problems at all with the radials on the front. I think it's more important to just have a good front end alignment.

Later,

David Cole
