will this rear housing work on my 67 mustang?

I'm wanting to get a 9 inch rear end for my 67 mustang but seems they're very proud of these suckers. A guy's got a rear end housing that supposedly came out of a 67 or 68 mustang. He said the measurements are:53 3/4 from back of backing plate to back of backer plate. Does this sound right? And also, what's something like this worth? I know the axles and gears and lockers are hard to find and expensive but what about just the housing? Thanks

I have a 67 FB and the 9" in my car is from a 69 Mach. The 69 70 rears seem to fit with no problems. I dont know if there is a difference in length between 67/8 and 69/70 rears but if you want a 9" then maybe this info opens the door up a bit more to find a rear that will fit.

Measurement is correct. Housings run the gamut from $50 (junkyard u-pick-um) to several hundred from folks like Strange, etc. They are relatively plentiful so it pays to be patient and look around.

Make sure it is really a 9 inch if it came out of a 67-68 mustang as I believe only big block cars had the big rearend.The vast majority of these cars had the 8 inch.The 9 inch parts can be expensive but its probably the most popular rear end so theres lots of used stuff available which makes things more affordable.I wouldn't think the bare housing would be worth too much.
