Thanks so far Im looking at

-428 .30 overbore
-forged pistons
-eagle rods
-something around 10.5:1 compression
-Not sure about crank
-Ported/polished RPM heads
-Crane cam(I was looking at some of those you had suggested)
-BT intake
-850dp
-Longtubes(I already have some hooker longtubes but i belive they are 1 5/8 whould i go ahead and go for bigger?)
-3in exaust

do you all think this setup will make 500rwhp?

BTW how much is this thing going to weigh roughly?

I really appreciate the help/advice and i would still love to hear what everyone else thinks.or see some other combos.im new to the 428 world.

Thanks
Travis

500 RWHP?

Hum that would be around 700 + horsepower at the flywheel.

He have a couple guys here that make 500 + RWHP but they both have 500 plus cubes and all the supporting items needed to hit those numbers.

I think that 500 RWHP would be very expensive for a FE to make.

You could make a 428 make good power but the 500 RWHP would require major work and heavy hitter parts.

500rwhp isint 700+ Flywheel unless you have some serious drivetrain loss

That's true it's so hard to figure out HP for the RWHP figure?

I was just going by the two guys here that have over 500 RWHP and what the dyno readings showed them.

Depending on the trans and alot of other variables you can lose 100-150 HP through the driveline.

Chilly, did you ever find out what the Booze Brothers make at the wheels with thier two Galaxies?

I was just wondering what kinda numbers those guys make at the rear wheels?

A C6 will rob you of a LOT of power! It will handle it, but it sure is'nt the most efficient trans out there .
To make that kind of power with an FE is going to require aftermarket everything! Basically, you are only gonna be starting with a bare block. Be prepared to fork out thousands and thousands of dollars. You may want to consider machining the block for crossbolted main caps, as a stock 2 bolt block WILL NOT hold up to much more than 400 HP at the crank.
But on the other hand, you may want to consider a stroked 351 WINDSOR...light weight, large aftermarket support, many nice and new performance/racing parts availability, and just a plain `ol superior motor from a design STANdpoint
Let the hate letters begin!

500 RWHP and restoration do not really go together in a older Mustang. the 500 hp is doable but would take the combo and cams Chilly spoke of. Though those cams would take more than 10.5 compression to make them work. 12-12.5 compression and one of the rollers at 255/265 would give you the 500.
I agree with the other posts about intakes but 2 or 2 1/8 headers though. 500 RWHP will tear aprt a nicely restored Mustang in short order though. Need serious suspension work, cage and chassis stiffening to amke it work.

I guess I was just asking about the Booze brothers cars to show that they don't make much more than 500 RWHP with thier $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ FE.

500 RWHP is ALOT of power!

You can and do lose alot through the driveline.

I used to go watch those "dyno challange" competitions that were held at the local drag strips around here.

You would be surprised at some of the somewhat "lower" HP numbers these cars put out at the rear wheels?

These guys had real good combos and real fast cars it's just the HP they were making at the flywheel and the RWHP numbers were very different.

After you figure in the drive line losses you would have some very impressive flywheel numbers.
