302 motor build

The 289 block cracked in my 66 coupe. I was running an RV cam with 69 351W heads, Edelbrock performer intake and a Holley Pro-Jection TPI unit. Anyone know if a stock 302 HO roller short block will work well with the 351W heads? Do I need special pistons to get the compression in the 9:1 range for a daily driver? Any idea on a source for someone that has proven this combination?

Flat top pistons will give you approximately 9:1 compression with 64cc chambers. I'm running that block with Trick Flow TW heads and 61cc chambers for slightly more compression. It should work fine with your heads, you can adjust compression with gasket thickness to a degree, and/or by going with larger valve reliefs if you want to reduce compression.

So what kind of HP are you getting with the stock HO roller block and the trick flow heads? I would like to get about 270HP at the flywheel. Would a higher performance cam such as a B-303 be required?
