Mallory Unilite Problems

I've been running a mallory unilite on my 302 for the last couple years without problems, but recently I've been having troubles. The car will not start for the life of it. I tested everything and the distributer is getting power and the coil and 6AL are are working properly, Im just not getting spark at the plugs. I had this same problem about a week ago, but actually got the car started it ran great for a week. But now it wont start again. Anyone ever burnt out a unilite module? Is there anyway to make sure that it is actually the module that is bad before I spend $89 on a new one? Any other ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks for feedback

Mallory Unilite Problems

I've never burned out a module, but I know that if you run a full 12 volts to them, they are doomed to die at some point in time. They are meant to be wired to the coil-side of the ballast resistor so that they only get about 8-9volts while the engine is running. Since you've got that MSD box, I'm wondering how your system is wired up. How much voltage are you getting to the power wire of the unilite?

Look on the Mallory website for a way to check the module for failure. If I recall correctly, it is in the tech area or maybe under installation instructions.
