Cam bearing gone bad

Blue mentioned something that I hadn't thought of. Since the wear is at the bottom, you might have too much preload on your rockers or too much lift for the springs and the binding is causing excessive pressure. Have you checked your open and close pressures? 300 is the highest open pressure you want on the street.

Cam bearing gone bad

Car has been running for a year and a half. There is only 110 pound on the seat the cam that was in it was a hydraulic with only 472 lift street motor. Wasent even close to coil bind. Springs should have been good to .58 lift.

Your springs might be ok for the lift of the cam but did you measure your installed spring height. Lets say you are using the wrong retainers, your installed spring height will be way off. I did a lot of investigating on my motor when the cam bearings wiped out. 3 shops failed to measure my installed spring height on my heads. I was even using the correct aftermarket retainers with my heads and the installed spring height was out to lunch. I will never trust any machine shop with anything again unles I recheck all there work. A lesson learned the hard way. You also have to relize that almost all wear will be on the bottoms of the cam bearings due to all the downward pressure of the valve springs.

If there is excessive pressure from the valve on down to the cam, you would notice wear on the lifter face and possibly the valve stem. Look for other symptoms of excessive pressure on other components to see if the problem resides in the cam area or the spring area.
