Hurst shifter

Just finished fitting a hurst promatic 2 shifter to my Australian fairlane which has a c6 in it.
Having nothing but trouble with it so far and I haven't even started the car yet.
It appeared the shifter had too much throw at the cable for the selector to allow, so I had to relocate the hole outwards to get all gears to align correctly. all that is ok now, all gears line up
But the shifter has excessive throw in just park gear, All other gears when slected the cable moves 8-9 mm, but when park is selected it actually moves approx 12mm which is too much for the auto, so in turn the shifter will not lock into park position, due to the box from stopping from moving any more.
It had this problem before I modified the shift lever, but I was hoping it would be rectified by moving the hole, I didn't realise the extra throw of the shifter at this stage.
Has any body else experienced this? Is this a reflection of hurst quality or have I just a dud?

Hurst shifter

I am not familiar with the hurst but with the BM racket I put in it can be used with 3 or 4 speed. It has a pin you put in to limit the extra throw of the shifter depending on which you are using. It also has a forward pin to stop it from going to far forward into park which sounds like your problem.I must have gotten lucky I put shifter and trans lever in the nuetral position bolted it up and havent touched it since.
