351c, 71 torino oil pan removal?

Is there a trick to the oil pan removal on a 351c in a 71 torino? Anyone do it and have tips on what to look for/how to do it? I need to replace my rear main, and I'm gonna replace my oil pump while I'm down there as well. Is it a weekend doable job for someone who has never done it before? I'm tired of loosing a quart every 1k miles and leaving big spots everywhere from this stupid leak. I'm not even allowed to park in our driveway anymore!

It's a pretty simple job. Do not run the motor for awhile before you do this job, unless you like oil dripping all over you! Remove motor mount thru bolts, sway bar, and undo fan shroud off radiator, hang it on fan. Raise the motor, and stick 2x4 blocks between the motor mount and frame bracket, set motor back down. Now you should be able to remove the pan bolts and slide the pan out the front. You may have to drop the oil pump inside the pan, depends on how much clearance you have. When you reinstall, make sure the pickup is level, and there is proper clearance from the pickup to the pan floor. Should be 3/8" or thereabouts. You can measure this by laying a straightedge acroos the pickup and measure to the block, and across the pan and measure to the floor of the pan. If you are using an high volume pump, make sure you watch your pressure in corners, as an HV pump may empty your pan on you.........
