Installed ratchet shifter and now have no park (long story, not simple)

I had to remove the shift arm from the side of the tranny (c6) to cut off the original shift arm and put the B&M shift arm on. To do this I had to remove the valve body and undo the linkage from the inside of the trans. When I put it back together it doesn't have park. Even when I shift it there by hand with the pan down so I can see it click park. The problem is the long rod that goes into the tailshaft and applies park. It isn't actuating the mechanism properly and I can only see one way to install it. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks

I just installed a B&M Megashifter this past winter.

It sounds to me that you may not have gotten the manual lever pin on the valve body located properly. It's kind of hard to explain how to do that without a pic. All my stuff is of C-4s although they are very similiar. You may get some other answers from the C-6 gurus.
