MALLORY VS MSD

I have a buddy that is thinking about buying the Mallory Hyfire 3RLi electronic ignition control. This box is about $130 cheaper than an MSD 6AL. They both have rev limiters.
My question is does anyone have any experience with the Mallory box, is it worth it, Is it compatible with points, if so will it make his points last longer, Should he pay the extra $$$ and get the MSD 6AL. Thanks.

I think you answered your own question. In our hobby, you get what you pay for.

All I have ever used is MSD stuff, and it has never failed me. And I have seen more than one friend fight wtih Mallory stuff to know I never want to buy any of their product.

MALLORY VS MSD

Before we totally trash Mallory, I've run a Unilite with a Hyfire 4 for years and just recently changed to the Hyfire 6AL digital (with rev limiter) and still using the same Unilite. I'm content

My dad runs a Mallory Hyfire IVc with the two rev. limiters. It works great. You don't need to buy pills, all you need to do is flip a few switches in the box for both limiters. I have a MSD 6AL with a two step and a rpm twist knob and pills. I have a lot more in my setup and it does the same thing. I have no complaints with either setup, they both seem to do exactly what they are supposed to.

Ok, 25 years of playing so here's my take. Don't use Mallory, Mallory's bad.. m'kay? Sorry, I don't do a good Mr. Mackey. Use the MSD for yourself, let the GM boys use the "others".
