"H" beam rods......any difference between Scat and Eagle?

I know they are both made from 4340 steel but is one better than the other? A guy that I know who works at an engine shop tends to lean toward Eagle for rods. His reasoning is that according to him, Scat is a crank company so when you want a crank get one from a company that specializes in cranks. Eagle is more of a rod company so again get rods from a company that specializes in rods etc. etc. What's everybody's take on this?

Eagle, Scat, Cat... makes no difference what you specialize in, the difference is in the quality! Eagle has a good QA program & Scat's is acceptable. Scat & Cat rods aren't nearly as good from a tolerance standpoint. I have had to return/re-machine more of them than I can remember. The last set of Cat rods that came off E-bay were all bad, had to resize both ends. After 25 years of doing this I have come to realize... you do get what you pay for. Use the Eagle rods, unless you want to chance it to save a buck. Let the arguements begin.

I prefer Eagle for rods and cranks.
