1968 z code emission control

The shop manual for my 68 z code says that because the car has a c6 tranny, the emissions are controlled by a "special carb and distributor" rather than the air pump system. Are there any special considerations regarding replacing the carb with an Edelbrock as part of their Performer Package carb, manifold, cam and heads package?

I don't have a 68 shop manual but the trans is controled by three external things, shifter, kickdown rod, vacuum to the Mod from the intake manifold. Most other trans controls are in the trans.
In 68 smog equipment wasn't developed enough to control cars like they do now. The smog pump used manifold vacuum to control it's source of suction, either from the engine's crankcase or outside air. It only air into the exhaust side.

I have a 68 z code that I installed a edelbrock cam, intake and carb on before I switched to a 460, had no problems at all with the trans with that combo.
