electric vacuum pump

I just got my 390 running with the Edelbrock Performer RPM cam/carb/intake. The vacuum pressure is too low at idle to handle the power brakes, so I am looking for an electric vacuum pump solution (or something else that'll work). I've heard that Summit has them, but they don't list anything in their online catalog. Did a quick search on Google and came up with some very expensive vacuum pumps ($400+). For $400, I can live with the braking characteristics but the wife occassionally takes the Galaxie out and I fear that she would kill someone.

Any altnernate solutions or sources for reasonably priced vacuum pumps would be a big help.

you might try a vacuum reservoir. Summit has 'em - around $70, way cheaper than a pump..

After further research, this is also the conclusion I came to. Thank for letting me know Summit has them, too.
