Who sells those "screw in freezeplugs" for a 429-460?

Hey guys, Do you know where I can buy those screw in freezplugs for a 429-460 Ford block?

I wanna convert the 472 and the 557 blocks to the srcew in plugs before any boring or other block work is done.

I found some on e-bay but, I would rather just buy them direct.

Thanks.

I just went out and checked both blocks ( D1VE & DOVE-A ) and they both have 1 1/2 inch freezeplug holes.

I'll look around a little and if I can't find them soon I will bid on the e-bay ones.

The plugs you need are 1 1/4 NPT(National Pipe Thread). The REAL fun part is buying the taps to put threads in the block. You WILL need 2 1 1/4 NPT taps. Take 1 to a tool grinder (Yellow pages) and have them shorten it 4 or 5 threads. Start all holes with the long tap. In some holes it will bottom out against the cyl. walls, this is where you use the short tap to finish the threads. Use lots of cutting oil (Sears). BTW, good U.S. taps start at about $90.00 ea. and you'll need a 3/4 drive socket and breaker bar to do the job. (been there, done this, don't do it anymore)

Yes, I just gonna let the engine machine shop do the freezeplug job.

I called them today and they said $60 per engine to do em.

I'm having both blocks done with them.

They have all the taps to do it already so I will let them mess with it.

Thanks guys.

I see you dutch bid on 4 sets. I got mine from that same guy. I got tap from qtrmiler to tap those holes. It is a PITA and next time I will have the machine shop do it. Standing on the engine stand and pulling with all my force kinda wears me out after 1 hole is done.
