How much more power does solid roller make vs.hyd roller?

393, 10.8 compression, Victor Jr, 750 mech Demon,Comp Cams 282 custom XE hydraulic roller( 232 / .566 int, 240 /.576 ex) 110 LSA.
AFR 185s. Should make 530-540 hp now according to magazine articles. Can I make more power with solid roller with same specs? I dont want to loose low/midrange power but want to rev it to 6800 rpm...

If you want to spin it that high, yes, the solid roller will make more power.

You actually might make less power in the lower RPM bands with a solid vs hyd roller. The HR that you have has a pretty fast attack rate.

What you will find is that the same cam will continue to allow the motor to RPM without the issues a HR brings on at around 6000 RPM.

That cam is nice but I'd suggest a slightly more aggressive SR for your app and you can see about 20-30HP in the above 6K range.

Here is your cam

Here is an estimate of your curve
http://www.cobralads.com/dyno2000/393_ville.gif

I believe the dyno curves will be almost identical since a roller is a roller. The one concern is the revs. See how on the comp cam site they state the cam is good for 2600-6500. At 6800 you may be nearing the edge of the hydraulic envelope. You might call comp and see what tech support has to say.

If you really want to buzz the engine, I would go solid roller. If your peak HP is 6000-6500, there will not be much reason to go screaming into the 7k range.
