347 or 408 Stroker?

I have a set of 69 Boss 302 heads (2.23 int & 1.71 exh)that I would like to put on a stroker motor. Originally I thought of putting them on a 347 or 355 cause I also have a Boss block. My ultimate goal is 600fwhp. I have read in these message boars that 600 is obtainable from the 302 block. I do realize that a 408 in a windsor block would make things much easier. My question for now is: block strength - how does the 2 bolt mains of the windsor block compare to the 4 bolt of the Boss block? This engine does NOT need to be streetable. If anyone has any parts combinations that would help me achieve my goals, please feel free to pass them on.

408 is the go,but if you have money to spend svo or dart 351 block would be better

600HP 302/347 is kind of difficult, doable, but you should consider forged crank, strong rods, like H beams, no question about ARP bolts, forged pistons, girdle, studs instead of bolts for mains and heads, o-ring gaskets, etc. I asume your boss block can handle it?

I forgetting anything?

408W can more easily do the 600HP but is close to the upper limit for what I personally would do with a stock block. I don't have the experience of some of the board members here, but that helps me err on the safe side. $ up front saves $$$ down the road is my rule of thumb.

No matter what block you use, the ARP replacement fasteners are a must, especially on the rods.

I don't know about the heads producing 600HP in any motor without extensive work. If it is even possible.

A stock 351W block is stronger than a Boss 302.

You'll have to build one WILD and EXPENSIVE 347 to make 600hp. A 408 will do it much more easily and reliably.

Go with the 408...

Good Luck!

Thanks for everyones input. Your opinioins will influence my descision alot. Here is a little bit of information that I thought was interesting and worth passing on: according to Ford Motorsports, their 302 4 bolt main block has a recommended MAX HP of 1200 @ 8600 RPM - their 351 4 bolt main block has a MAX 750 HP @ 8500 RPM !!! The 351 has one more 4 bolt main cap than the 302. Wouldn't this suggest that the 4 bolt 302 block would be MUCH stronger than the standard 351 with 2 bolt mains?
