Everyone read!!! Need Help!!!!

Well, I FINALLY got my clutch pedal assembly (getting shipped to me.) I decided since I am at school, and I come down every thursday night (1130 pm) till monday morning (9 am) for the rest of my younger brothers football season I have to get started finishing up the C6 to 4 speed conversion. Well now here is my question:

In order to get the automatic braket out, do must I take the steering coloumn, and dash apart? I have one bolt out, and what a PITA that was. I think I only have maybe 10 more bolts to go on the bracket, not counting the dash, and steering coloumn. Ohh yea, this is a 73 mach 1. Thanks for the immediate help!

I'm doing the same thing to my 69 Mach 1. I just got the pedal setup myself. If everything goes as planned, we will get it running with an FMX, but install the pedal setup and have a dead clutch pedal. But to answer your question, I believe it is possible to switch the automatic bracket for the manual one without pulling the stearing column, and without pulling the dash apart. The only problem with this is that you will spend many hours upside down, doing small wrench turns because there isnt a whole hell of alotta room. (As I discovered when i pulled my old booster). But yea, you should be able to get it done with a universal wrench, a bunch of lube, and a whole lotta time.

For your year you will have to take off the sterring column. I took the automatic pedal hanger off first to see if I could manage getting it out witout removing the steering column and it didn't work. It doesn't take that long and makes everything easier. Plus if the any of the parts you are taking off need work it is a perfect time to do it.

It is not that hard. There are four bolts that hold the steering column on to the hanger. Then there are five bolts that hold the chassis on the frame. It take about an hour or so. But you will have to take off you gauges to get to the fifth bolt of the hanger which takes slightly longer. Tip:careful with the underside. There are a lot of sharp things down there.
