There is usually a tag mounted on one of the third member studs.

so i climbed under my car and looked on the pumpkin for a tag that was on one of the third member studs. There werent any but stamped on the front of the pumpkin itself was "DIF 5" and then on a circle protruding a little bit from the pumpkin itself were the following numbers going in a clockwise order around the circle 3, 5, 7, 9 and 1. I dont know what these mean, any ideas?

Those are to do with the foundry and possibly date it was cast.....

You may have to put a line on the driveshaft and tire. Then rotate the tire one turn and count the number of times the driveshat rotates.

What does the axle code on the door tag say? It is eitehr a number or letter.

An open differential will not give an accurate result doing this. That method works reliably for posi's with both tires in the air.

If there wasn't a tag, I wouldn't trust the axle code.
The 3rd member was probably rebuilt, or replaced with different gear ratio or something of the sorts

If it is a mach 1, you have a tach. IF it works, just get a mph, and a RPM, and the diameter tire you have, and plug it in on the internet.
